Case Study | Hamleys Toy Parade

Hamleys' Toy Parade has become one of the largest events in Regent Street's busy event calendar.

In 2017, the day was divided into two sections - the hour long parade and the activation event for kids to meet their favourite characters.

Delivering the production for both parts of the event - in a matter of hours - was both a complicated and sizable task for the Wilde Ones team.

With the parade route blocking one side of Regent Street, the crucial focus was getting all infrastructure onto the street before vehicle access was restricted completely.

A great many hours were spent in the office devising the best schedule for each individual team to avoid street blockages and unwanted delays.

Even the best laid plans bring the odd mischief on event day.

The additional information given to each of the Wilde Ones team provide a safety net for suppliers needing extra guidance on the day.

With a tight schedule and little margin for error, the Wilde Ones team are on the ground and armed with information to keep to the script.

The event began with a parade including inflatable characters, cars, floats and even a marching band.

Part of Wilde Ones' role was scheduling and managing the parade vehicles' arrival to the event site.

Exhaustive pre-event communication and a close working relationship with the Operations Management team meant that vehicles were in order and ready to go come the start of the parade.

With such a popular event in such a limited space, the attention to safe practice could not be underestimated.

Our attention to careful work on the ground and our strong relationships with the operational team minimised risk at one of the busiest events on Regent Street in recent years.
